Seriusly one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been. It is like being in Toscana. Only by reservation, so consider that. As you arrive might see it empty but it slowly gets packed. Both, grilled and ceviche octopus are amazing! The eggplant is fenomenal. For pastas, the porcini was perfect! Also de gnocchi! The branzini is light but full with flavor. As dessert, the mille foglie and the panna cotta have to be tried. The waiters were super nice, my glass of water was never empty. You have to give it a try. Not low prices but they are justified with the quality.

This place truly is a gem, traveled to Italy for our honeymoon and this is the closest you will get without having to take a flight, the food is exquisite and extremely fresh !!! Our waiter and everyone helping us this evening was excellent. You must try this place and I know you will be back plenty of times. I'm looking forward to my next visit !

This place is a gem. The quality of the food is superior to il gabbiano and il mulino. No, it is not elegant. It is casual and there are no waiters in tuxedo but Phillipo, the owner and chef, is truly passionate and talented. Just ask him what he recommends and let him amaze you with his true love of market fresh and seasonal Italian cuisine. It is a trip to Tuscany in all of its culinary glory. Peter D. Sunny Isles.

Snobby people. We came with a child and they told us we need reservation, and that is with 90% empty tables. Apparently the didn't want little baby there.

If you are looking for good food and service, this place is not for you. Service is very slow and unprofessional. It seems like , an Italian family runs the place. You immediately get involved with their fights and arguments. Their right hand does not know what the left one does. Staff is completely tactless and clumsy. They lack any sense of delicacy. They are not aware what dish to serve first, when to take a check and how to talk to clients. Food is decent, typical homemade Italian food. Nothing special. I was not impressed with anything I tried.

Was not impressed... Restaurant is in a strip mall, but interior is decent. Basically, neither service nor the food merits the prices. Waiters were friendly, but we waited a VERY long time for a waiter to take our order, to get food, etc. Prices are excessive given the level of the restaurant, portion size and slow service. We ordered octopus appetizer to share - it was a bit burned, all in all OK, but I've had better (try Old Lisbon if you like octopus!). I ordered fish fillet - which was $25. Asked what does it come with? No rice or potatoes options! :0 Just spinach or asparagus or something like that... Decided to order spinach, even though don't like that stuff just to have something with the food. Turns out that was $10 extra. The branzino fillet was nothing special, totally BLAND - just a grilled fillet, although done expertly, and not the size that the price would warrant. Glass of wine was $10, which is pricey by Miami standards. My date didn't like the food she ordered, and though she didn't eat it, they didn't care to comp us. In all, SLOW service, excessive prices - especially since it appears they don't include side orders, no adequate side orders actually (no potatoes or other starches). I can't believe this place stays in business in Miami with so many superior options...

I've driven past this place every single day for so many years, but I've never stopped in. Finally picked it on Valentine's Day as a last minute choice... and don't regret it. No crowds, great service, and amazing food. A tad on the expensive side, but you could taste the difference in the food. Surprised there weren't a lot of people at the restaurant - so not sure how they've stayed afloat all these years. Regardless, hope they stick around.

Last night we traveled to Italy for dinner!! From the moment you walk in to Portovino, you feel that real Italian mom amd pop atmosphere that you don't normally experience at an Italian restaurant in the area. The food and wine was excellent!! They can make you pretty much anything you want and most of it isn't on the menu. I had the best chicken parm I have ever had. Tiramisu was incredible and huge!!

This is a top Italian restaurant. The authenticity is hard to match anywhere this side of the Atlantic. No kidding. We had this green tomato pasta sauce. It had almost a lemony taste but not. No acidity at all. Everything is made and served fresh. Absolutely delicious. As if you are in Tuscany.

Haven't tried other Italian restaurants in the area. Clean restaurant, friendly staff, have patience as food doesn't come out immediately. Fresh food, not unique, but they care about their food.

I was fooled by the average review score ... my personal experience was not 4+. The food was very low in salt and not in a good way. A few items on the menu were not available ... like ... um ... chicken parmesan. The staff was kind ... but overall this was not a great dining experience. I had a total of 8 in my party and did not have reservations. I think that thew off the restaurant ... but great restaurants find a way to make it work. This one didn't live up to expectations for me and I'm simple.

Friday night with the family, celebrating our daughter's birthday with my in-laws. They had heard good things about the place and we were game. Situated in a strip mall on 163rd between Collins and Biscayne, it's a decent place, but I felt awful for the owners, it was Friday night and only one other table with people. Where was everyone? They had some wonderful specials, pasta, veal, fresh fish, and I can't pronounce or spell them, but they were nice and fresh. The appetizers were awesome, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and tuna carpaccio. We tried the two fresh fish dishes, one I think is a bronzini and the other is a oraccata (sp?) . Very plain but good, and de-boned at table side. Great wine list, bread and roasted garlic also good. The owners are from Pistoia, part of the Tuscany region in Italy and they are very attentive. Luckily, we didn't pay, since we were treated by my in-laws, but I think the prices are a little on the high side. The tiramisu for dessert was yummy. Lovely people, great service, worth a try...

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
